Government discuss to claim the money owed to the state by MMPRC

The cabinet has discussed on claiming the money owed to the state by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali tweeted today saying that measures that could be taken to claim the money were discussed at the cabinet meeting today. But he did not say how much money the state is trying to claim.

Muaz said that the cabinet also discussed about continuing big projects without a halt.

President of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Hassan Luthufee said that a team from ACC has begun an investigation of the corruption and leasing islands for tourism.

“In total, we have entered to investigate all of the problems in there.” Luthufee said.

President Yamin has already ordered the Auditor General to do a special audit of MMPRC.

While an audit has been ordered, there are many cases related to the MMPRC surfacing recently including money related cases and importing a gunpowder container through deception.

The Managing Director of MMPRC, Abdulla Ziyath is currently in Police custody being investigated.
