Police: Pictures of the weapons were found from the phone of one of the arrested suspects

Police have said that they have found pictures of the weapons they found in the special operation they are conducting from the mobile phone of one of the suspects they arrested.

Speaking at the press conference tonight, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abdulla Navaaz said that all the people that have been arrested so far are people related to the case.

He said that the investigation has proven that the weapons found were not all of the weapons that exist.

A large number of firearms were found on B. Hibalhidhoo, a resort development project, in a special joint operation by the Police and MNDF being conducted across the country. The weapons were found 42 meters deep at the edge of the B. Hibalhidhoo’s lagoon.

Although the information about the suspect that was arrested, Police share two pictures found on the man’s phone.

One of the pictures the Police shared with the media shows tools used to make explosives inside a box placed on a mattress. And the other picture shows bullets, mobile phones and tools used to make an IED.

Navaaz said that he cannot confirm or deny at this time if the weapons that were found were imported in a container with pyrotechnics.

The weapons were found 42 meters deep at the edge of the B. Hibalhidhoo’s lagoon.
