Sri Lankan sniper arrested in Maldives

A Sri Lankan Sniper has been arrested in the Maldives in suspicions of attempted illegal activity in the country.

Sources say that the man was arrested sometime last week while he was at the airport to leave the country. Police have been working hard to find the man.

There has been no official word from the Police on the matter.

While a Sri Lankan sniper has been arrested in the Maldives, a large number of firearms were found on B. Hibalhidhoo, a resort development project, in a special joint operation by the Police and MNDF.

The weapons were found 42 meters deep at the edge of the island’s port lagoon.

A sniper rifle and it’s ammunition along with the scope was found in the special operation.

After a few days, an IED made with dynamite was found on a pickup truck parked near Muliaage, the President’s residence. The security forces took the IED to Maafannu Stadium and defused the device.

Speaking at the Victory Day function at H.A. Kulhudhuffushi, Home Minister Umar Naseer said that the IED found on the pickup truck near Muilaage was part of a planned attack against the President.
