Dr. Shakeeb assigned to the Vice-chair on the FAM Normalization Committee

The duration of the FAM Normalization Committee has been extended to 31 December and it’s member Mohamed Hussain (Oittey) has been replaced by the physician of the National Team, Dr. Ahmed Shakeeb as the Vice-chairman of the Committee by FIFA.

FIFA issued a statement yesterday extending the reign of the current Maldivian FAM and said that that FIFA’s Emergency Committee has dismissed Oittey from the committee and add Dr. Shakeeb as a member of the committee and assign him as the Deputy of the Committee.

The former Vice-chairman of the Committee was Abdul Hameed Abdul Gafoor (Addo). FIFA said that Addo will remain in the Committee as a member.

Oittey was assigned to the Committee earlier in the year after this year’s Normalization Committee member, Mohamed Nizam (Nizambe) resigned to coach the TC Sports Club.

Dismissal of Oittey has come after his residence, G. Oevaali was searched in the investigation of the explosion on board the Presidential Launch.

While the normalization Committee has been extended to 31 December, FIFA said that the election that was scheduled for this month must be held before the end of December.
