Hamid Ismail arrested in Malaysia

Hamid Ismail has been arrested in Malaysia in relation to the explosion on the presidential speedboat on 28 September 2015.

This has been confirmed to Sun Media by Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer.

The Managing Director of Millennium Capital Management was arrested by Malaysian police upon his arrival in Malaysia from Singapore.

Sources have told Sun Online he would be taken to Malé soon and handed over to Maldivian police.

Police have searched his residence M. Shuramanzil many times following the boat blast, and seized several items including the CCTV camera hard disk.

Police first raided Hamid’s residence on suspicion of attempted destruction of evidence related to terrorism, while he was in China accompanying Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.
