Government requests audit of MMPRC

The Audit Office has been commissioned to conduct an audit of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

This has been confirmed to Sun Media by President’s Office Spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali, who said that an audit of MMPRC has been requested from 17 November 2013 onwards.

Managing Director of MMPRC Abdulla Ziyath has been arrested after he refused to cooperate with an ongoing investigation.

The post of Auditor General is held by Hassan Ziyath, Abdulla Ziyath’s brother.

MMPRC Office remains under police control.

Several accusations, related to money and illegal import of fireworks, have been made against MMPRC.
