MDP requests to meeting the acting head of MPS

Biggest opposition party, MDP has requested a meeting with the acting Head of the Maldives Police Service, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Areef.

The MDP website says that the party sent a letter today to the Police requesting the meeting. MDP did not reveal the purpose of the meeting with the Deputy Commissioner Areef.

Ahmed Areef was assigned as the acting Head of Police on Friday night after promoting him from Assistant Commissioner to Deputy Commissioner.

Commissioner of Police, Hussain Waheed was dismissed by the President and assigned as the State Minister of the Housing Ministry. Areef was also the Head of Police Intelligence a few says before being assigned as the acting Head of Police.
