Two crew members of Maarana 4 rescued

Two crew members of supply boat Maarana 4 have been rescued.

The boat went missing on Sunday night with three crew members on-board. One of them, a foreign national, was found and rescued by a passing boat early this morning.

The two remaining people, a Maldivian and a foreigner, were spotted by an air taxi about 45 minutes later.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard arrived at the scene soon afterwards and rescued the foreigner.

The Maldivian remains missing, and search efforts are ongoing.

MNDF said the condition of the first person to be rescued, picked up by the passing boat, was critical.
