Maumoon: PPM is with President Yamin

Former President and President of PPM, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has sent gratitude to President Yamin for briefing him on the Presidential Launch explosion and said that PPM will remain “steadfast” in support.

Some political figures have been spreading rumors saying that PPM was involved in the explosion on the Presidential Launch.

Responding to such rumors, President Maumoon tweeted tonight saying that PPM is with President Yamin and that he is confident that President Yamin can solve the crisis at hand and lead to stability.

National Inquiry Commission has said that the information received to the investigation shows that the explosive used in the attack was set under seat of the President. But by chance, the President did not sit on that chair on that day.

Sources say that three people have been arrested in the investigation of the explosion. All three people are officers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). and one of works at the MNDF Ordnance.

The explosion on board the Presidential launch took place on 28 September when it was closing in to the Izzuddin jetty coming from Hulhulé after the President and the First Lady returned to the country after the Hajj Pilgrim.
