The National Security Committee of the Parliament has passed the Terrorism Bill, proposed by the government.

A committee member told Sun Media the bill was passed at a meeting yesterday.

The bill includes procedures to allow detention, monitoring, and control of persons or groups accused of terrorism.

The bill was submitted to parliament by Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Abdulla.

Speaking at an event in Meemu Muli on 1 June 2015, Vice President Ahmed Adeeb said that the Terrorism Bill would be passed before the end of the term of the current government.
