Thief arrested on roof of shop

A thief has been arrested while trying to remove tin from the roof of a shop, to break in.

Police said the arrest was made at around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday after being alerted by the public, that a man had been spotted on the roof of Mini Emporium on Vaijehey Magu.

The suspect is a Maldivian man aged 24.

“Police arrived at the scene and conducted checks, and found the suspect using tools to remove the tin. Further checks showed that screws had been removed from the roof,” said police.

The suspect has criminal record for drugs, assault, and vandalism.
