Laptops handed over to Police for forensic investigation

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has handed over a large quantity of laptops to the Police for investigation, in relation to the corruption case involving Nexbiz and the border control system currently under investigation.

An official of ACC said today that the laptops were handed over to the Police last night, and that ACC has over 60 laptops in their possession following their operation during which they visited four departments of Immigration office.

ACC indicated earlier that the staff of Immigration Department had attempted to obstruct them from entering their premises. ACC had to obtain a court order and be accompanied by the Police to finally conduct this investigation. ACC has now filed the case to Police.

ACC halted the Rf500m border control system project because several elements in the announcement of the project were not included in the agreement made with Nexbiz.

When the case was filed to Civil Court, they ruled that ACC cannot order Nexbiz to halt its work, following which ACC appealed the case to High Court. High Court has issued an order to halt all work pertaining to the border control system until a decision is made on this case.
