Police seize items from Gulf Craft MD Hamid

Police have searched and seized items from the residence of Hamid Ismail, managing director of Gulf Craft Maldives.

Hamid is presently out of the country. Sources have told Sun Online he is accompanying Vice President Ahmed Adeeb in his official visit to China.

Police spokesperson said that items were seized from M. Shuramanzil for an ongoing investigation, but did not provide details.

Hamid is Adeeb’s uncle and Adeeb used to live in the same house.

Police also tried to enter Hamid’s house on Thursday night, but were unsuccessful due to a problem with the court order.

The case being investigated is unclear. But President Abdulla Yameen has established an Inquiry Commission to investigate the explosion on the presidential speedboat while he was on-board, on 28 September 2015. The incident is being investigated as a serious matter.

The president was unharmed, but First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim suffered spine fractures.

President Yameen has said the attack was targeted at him, either to kill him or have him permanently disabled.
