Speed boat travelling with 18 passengers have crashed on a reef

A speed boat travelling from G.Dh. Gaddhoo to Thinadhoo with 18 people has crashed on a reef.

The boat “Raas 2” crashed on the reef around 7:10 p.m. Police say that no one was injured in the incident.

The Police Media Official said that the launch travelling to G.Dh. Thinadhoo that crashed on the reef has now been saved from the reef with the efforts by the Police and the Coast Guard. And the people on board have been taken to Thinadhoo on a Police launch.

Police say that the boat was freed around 9:40 p.m. tonight and the boat’s engine had received some damage.

Police advise caution in the Southern atolls during sea transportation since the area has been experiencing bad weather recently. They also call to take extra precaution during night travels by getting the latest weather reports from the authorities and not to make journeys unless absolutely necessary if the weather is bad.
