Maldivian Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor left for China on an official visit Monday afternoon.
He departed at around 1:00 pm.
Speaking to press at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, Adeeb said that the purpose of his visit was to attend a conference of Asian political parties to be held in China.
He said that he would also be discussion the 21st Century Maritime Silk Route Project with Chinese government during the visit.
“My aim is to discuss about the developmental projects by Maldivian and Chinese government – especially airport, loan component of bridge project,” said Adeeb.
He said that he believed the outcome of the visit would turn out very favorable to Maldives.
“I believe this to be a great opportunity for Maldives. All components of great developmental projects are almost set with them at loan finance stage. I believe that this trip will, god willing, prove very successful for Maldives.”
He said that he would be attending the Maldives Investment Forum after the conference, before returning back to the country.
Maldives Investment Forum is to be launched by VP Adeeb himself.
