Maldives Correctional Service has informed Civil Court that it was not possible to take former president Mohamed Nasheed to court for a hearing scheduled for 11:00 a.m. today.
The hearing is regarding a case filed by Nasheed’s family claiming they were denied the opportunity to meet with him.
Information Officer of Correctional Service Moosa Zameer told Sun Media that the notification was received only one hour prior to the time Nasheed was required to be present in court, which was not sufficient time to escort him from the island to the court in Malé.
The hearing has been cancelled.
