Hulhumal

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has decided to allow independent land owners to construct six floor buildings in Hulhumalé.

Hulhumalé allowed buildings up to four stories until now. Although that decision was changed to allow five story buildings, the change never made it to gazette.

Managing Director of HDC, Mohamed Saiman told Sun Media tonight that they would make the decision to allow six story buildings and announce it on the gazette tomorrow.

“HDC has decided to gazette tomorrow, make changes to the guidelines to building six stories and publicize on the website.” Saiman said.

He said that the Floor Plan Index (FPI) for the buildings has been more lenient as well.

While Hulhumalé is allowing six story buildings to be constructed, the Housing Ministry has decided to allow buildings up to 20 floors.
