LONDON (AP) — Bayern Munich and Robert Lewandowski took the top spots in The Associated Press Global Football 10 polls on Tuesday.
Lewandowski scored seven goals for Bayern in two games, including five in nine minutes in the 5-1 midweek comeback win over Wolfsburg.
He followed up with two more as his team won 3-0 at Mainz, taking him to 100 goals in the German Bundesliga, for Bayern and his former club Borussia Dortmund.
"There will never be a more emphatic No. 1 than Lewandowski, whose five goals midweek against Wolfsburg may be the performance of the season," Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "Lewandowski just makes you shake your head in amazement."
Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez was second after scoring a hat trick in a 5-2 win at Leicester. The Chile international, who has previously played for Udinese and Barcelona, became the first man to score a hat trick in Serie A, the Premier League and the Spanish Liga following his treble on Saturday.
Nikola Kalinic was third after also scoring three goals for Fiorentina against Inter Milan in Italy.
Luis Suarez ranked fourth after scoring both goals to lead Barcelona to a hard fought 2-1 win over Las Palmas at the Nou Camp.
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is fifth. The Belgium international scored his team's first and third as Everton came from 2-0 down to beat West Bromwich Albion 3-2 on Monday.
Iago Aspas, Hatem Ben Arfa, Wayne Rooney, Erik Lamela and Carlos Kameni round out the top 10 players.
In the team vote, Fiorentina was second after beating Inter Milan 4-1 to move into first place in Serie A.
Tottenham was third after beating Manchester City 4-1 at White Hart Lane.
"Tottenham and Fiorentina are that kind of team that seems to be always trying to prove how competitive they are for the big stage," Ubiratain Leal of trivela.com in Brazil said. "For both, taking care of (the) league leader in 4-1 victories are good signs about these teams' capabilities."
Manchester United polled fourth after beating Sunderland 4-0 and rising to the top of the Premier League, replacing its fierce derby rival City atop the standings.
Arsenal is fifth after inflicting a first league defeat of the season upon Leicester.
Villarreal, Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, Celta Vigo and Nice complete the top 10 teams of the week.
