Ooredoo has become the telecom partner in the Video Games World Championship held in the Maldives by the World Series of Video Games (WSVG).
At a ceremony at the office of Ooredoo Maldives, the Head of Sales at Ooredoo, Hussain Niyaz signed the agreement with Vice President of WSVG, Steven Leunens.
The qualifying matches for the Championship is currently taking place in about ten countries. The tournament has a USD 100,000 prize.
Steven Leunens said that Ooredoo was chosen was the telecom partner because their internet connection speed is good.
He said that a good internet connection is required to play some games and that Ooredoo would be providing that internet connection.
Niyaz said that online gaming is very popular among the youth and that they are happy to take part in such an event. And that they are proud to be part of the first such gaming tournament in the Maldives.
Six Maldivians are also taking part in this competition. The competition would be held from 5-10 October at a resort in Maldives although the name of the resort has not been announced yet.
