Passengers on a speedboat travelling from A.Dh. Dhangethi to Malé City has been rescued after the boat crashed on a reef.
MNDF said that after the speedboat “Blue Ranaa” crashed on to the reef at Maadhiggaru lagoon around 5:40 p.m. today, it’s passengers have been rescued and brought to Malé City on the Coast Guard ship, Shaheed Ali.
They say that the boat had 15 people including two women on board when the incident took place and that they are all in good condition.
MNDF said that according to the boat’s captain, the incident took place when the boat’s engine stopped and the ocean current took the boat north of Vaagili and crashed on the Maadhiggaru lagoon reef.
Last night, a ferry travelling to Maamigili from Malé City capsized leaving everyone onboard at sea. No one injured in the incident.
