Amaal Clooney and Jared Genser has arrived in Sri Lanka

Part of the former President Mohamed Nasheed’s international team of lawyers, Amaal Clooney and Jared Genser has arrived in Sri Lanka.

An official from MDP told Sun Media that they arrived in Sri Lanka sometime last night.

They met with the Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Maldives, Atul Keshap.

Hassan Latheef, who is also part of the former President Nasheed’s defense team, also took part in the meetings. The details of those meetings have not been released yet.

In their visit to the Maldives, Clooney and Genser met with the former President Mohamed Nasheed and the Attorney General, Mohamed Anil.

They have said that they would do everything they can to free President Nasheed from prison.
