PPM Ethics Committee to investigate statement against Gayoom

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has decided to file a case against its Mahchangolhi branch President Ahmed Shamoon to the Ethics Committee.

This follows the issuance of a statement by PPM Mahchangolhi branch calling to hand over PPM presidency to President Abdulla Yameen.

PPM said today that the statement was issued by Shamoon in his capacity as an individual, and has a negative impact on unity and peace within the party.

Shamoon is also Coordinator at Ministry of Tourism.

PPM further said that according to party regulations, statements can only be issued after discussion and with the support of the Steering Committee of the relevant branch.
