Member of former president Mohamed Nasheed’s legal team Mahfooz Saeed, who was stabbed on Friday, has been taken to Sri Lanka for further treatment.
Spokesperson for Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) Zeenath Ali Habeeb said that Mahfooz departed to Sri Lanka last night, as requested by the family.
The family has said that Mahfooz had blurred vision in the left eye.
Zeenath said that the blurred vision was caused by swelling due to a stab wound close to the eye, and doctors have advised the family that his vision will improve as the swelling goes down.
“The family wants to take him abroad nonetheless,” Zeenath said.
Mahfooz was stabbed at around 5:00 p.m. on 4 September 2015 while he was in the backseat of a motorcycle on Maaveyo Magu, by two people on another motorcycle.
No one has been arrested yet.
