Twitter account used in my name is fake: Ghassan

Minister of State for youth and sports and son of former President Gayoom, Ghassan Maumoon has said that the twitter account being used in his name is fake.

Most tweets by the fake account user ‘Ghassan Maumoon@ppm986’ are aimed at leaders of DRP, by tagging their accounts and criticising them.

The person tagged DRP leader Ahmed Thasmeen Ali, DRP Council members Rozaina Adam, Ali Azim and Abdullah Mausoom and criticised them following the news that more than 700 DRP members including lead activists in Addu City, joined PPM.

“What’s happening now? Where are those loud-mouthed DRP members?” tweeted the fake user.

The person also criticised Thasmeen’s interview with the media where he indicated that DRP will fully support President Waheed’s government despite differences in opinions within DRP.

Ghassan said that he is not on twitter, and that someone has created a fake account using his name. He came to know of the fake account subsequent to receiving several SMS’s and questions from PPM members.
