A State Minister and Deputy Minister demoted to Executive Coordinators

A Deputy Minister and a State Minister have been demoted by the President, Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom.

A Government official told Sun Media tonight that the Deputy Minister at the Gender Ministry, Aminath Nadira has been appointed as the Ministry’s Executive Coordinator.

And the State Minister Minister at the Fisheries Ministry, Zahaa Waheed has been appointed to the position of the Executive Coordinator at the Ministry.

It is yet unclear why their positions have been changed.

Responding to a question from Sun Media regarding these demotions, the Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Muaz Ali said that promotions, demotions, appointments and severance from political positions in a power appointed to the President by Article 115-F of the Constitution.

Spokesperson Muaz also said that the President’s Office does not confirm if specific people are demoted or not.

Zahaa Waheed was the Secretary General of PPM when President Yamin got elected.
