Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has said that Mahfooz Saeed, a member of the former President Mohamed Nasheed’s defense team, is recovering after surgery following his stabbing.
Media Official of IGMH, Zeenath Ali Habeeb told Sun Media today that a serious, three hour surgery was done following the attack on him. And that he is recovering now after the surgery.
“Now after the surgery, his condition is good. He’s admitted. Doctors say that the operation was a success.” Zeenath said.
Mahfooz was attacked with a knife close to his eye socket on the side of his head. The hospital’s media official said that the latest tests post-surgery shows no complications to his vision.
After Mahfooz was attack, the former President’s Office issued a statement condemning the attack.
The Serious and Organized Crime Department of the Maldives Police Service is investigating the case further.
