Fishing boat goes missing with 14 people onboard

Dhandahelu, a fishing boat from Raa Dhuvaafaru, has gone missing with 14 fishermen onboard.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard is working with the owner of the boat to re-establish contact with the boat.

The boat was last contacted on Friday at around 10:00 p.m., at which time its location was 8 nautical miles west of Raa Kandholhudhoo.

The vessel is 85 feet in length and painted dark blue.

MNDF has urged anyone with information on this boat to come forward as soon as possible.
