Police have said that they have started investigating the video publicized threatening the lives of the President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom and the Vice Preisdent Ahmed Adheeb.
Regarding the video uploaded to YouTube, the Police Media Official told Sun Media that it is being investigated.
The video shows three armed individuals talking with their faces covered. The video publicized has the Islamic State (IS) has English subtitles for the words spoken in Dhivehi.
The video uploaded to YouTube today calls to stop the prosecution against some of the political figures. It demands to stop torturing the former Human Rights Envoy, Ibrahim Moosa Luthufee (Sandhaa Luthufee) and calls for the “release of Sheikh Imran without any terms and conditions.”
The video also threats an attack if the demands are not met within 30 days which includes attacks on President Yamin, Vice President Adheeb and the country’s economy.
Similar threats were made via social media in the past as well, including the threats of an attack if a performance by the famous artist Sean Paul was allowed in the country which led to the cancellation of the show.
