Man injured in fire in Mal

A man has been injured in a fire in Malé.

Information Officer of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Major Adnan Mohamed told Sun Online that the fire started in Masodigé around 7:00 a.m. today.

It left the first floor of the building completely destroyed, and was extinguished at around 7:20 a.m., said Adnan.

The cause of the fire is unclear and is under investigation.

Police said that a Maldivian was injured when he fell while running down the stairs to escape from the fire.

He has been taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
