Fuvahmulah road construction project awarded to MRDC

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has signed an agreement with Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) for project to construct a 2.9 km road in Fuvahmulah.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Managing Director of MRDC Ibrahim Nazeem, at a ceremony at Ministry of housing and Infrastructure this morning.

Dr Muizzu said that the project would see the construction of and installation of lights on Fuvahmulah’s Bodu Magu.

A new project will be launched soon for the construction of other roads in the island, but this depends on the progress of the ongoing water and sewerage system project, said Dr Muizzu.

The MVR 33 million project is funded by the government.

Dr Muizzu also thanked everyone involved and said that the road construction project would boost development in Fuvahmulah.

MP Ali Shah said that the people of Fuvahmulah are delighted over the commencement of the project, and thanked President Abdulla Yameen and the government for their support for the project.

MD of MRDC Nazeem said that the project would be completed in less than one year.
