Dr Shameem nominated as president, Jameela as vice president of CSC

Dr Ali Shameem has been nominated for the post of president, and Jameela Ali for the post of vice president of Civil Service Commission (CSC).

The nominations were submitted to parliament by Vilimalé MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, and supported by two MPs. Dr Shameem’s nomination was supported by Vilufushi MP Riyaz Rasheed, and Jameela’s by Gadhdhoo MP Ahmed Rasheed.

Dr Shameem, a former member of Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM), was appointed to CSC on Monday.

Jameela was appointed to CSC by former President Dr Mohamed Waheed’s government.

Article 17 of the CSC Act states that a president and vice president shall be appointed to the commission by the president, as advised by the parliament.
