The sixth Asia Pacific Regional 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) Forum is under way at Dharubaaruge in Malé.
The forum was inaugurated yesterday, which was followed by two events – 99 resorts signing the 3R Declaration, and all Atoll Councils declaring support for the “Clean Maldives Initiative”.
Today, Minister of Environment and Energy Thorig Ibrahim participated in the morning session, and Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu will participate in the afternoon session of the forum.
The morning session was addressed by Minister of State for Environment of Japan, Yasuhiro Ozato.
A total of 141 government delegates including ministers, state ministers, a mayor, and a governor will participate in the forum.
Those set to participate in the forum also includes 111 representatives from organizations, bringing the number of total participants to 250.
Regional 3R Forum is organized by United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) and the government of Japan.
