Lightning strikes STO

With heavy rain falling on Male’, State Trading Company (STO) has confirmed to Sun Online that lightning struck the company’s head office at around 11:30 pm Wednesday morning.

STO Assistant General Manager Muslih Maseeh said that the lightning had resulted in electricity going out from the whole building and that officials from State Electric Company (STELCO) were currently working on analyzing the damage.

He said that no STO employee had been injured in the incident and that information on full extent of the damage was not available at the moment.

“We are concerned that the electricity went out. We are waiting for a word from STELCO for information on full extent of damage. All staff, everybody is allright,” said Muslih.

STO head office is were all administrative work of the company are carried out. It’s also where senior officials of the company work.
