‘Food and Hospitality Asia Maldives Exhibition 2015 and International Culinary Challenge’, the largest event of this nature in the Maldives, is under way at Dharubaaruge.

The event was launched this morning by Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed.

Speaking at the event, Saeed said that the culinary challenge is an opportunity for Maldivian chefs to show their skills and compete against international and experienced chefs from around the world.

Referring to the government’s economic policies, he said that the government will continue to work towards facilitating economic opportunities for the youth.

A total of 450 local and foreign chefs will participate in the exhibition. Also, two directors of the World Association of Chefs Society (WACS) have arrived in the Maldives for the event.

Organisers say the main objective of the FHAM exhibition is to facilitate trade between the exhibitors from all over the world offering products and services required by the Maldives’ world class resort industry.

The exhibition begins on 10 August and will last for three days.
