Police stop illegal business inside taxi center

Dial Cab Transport Service is under hot water with authorities after police stopped illegal business transactions taking place inside the center, arresting one of their operators.

Police said that they had arrived on the scene at around 1:20 am, Wednesday, following up on a report they received. Police said they arrested the 53 year-old man who had been working as the operator.

Dial Cab Transport Service is better known as “3132”, a long standing taxi service and possibly the most popular taxi service in the capital, Male’.

Police said that there investigation led to the discovery of a refrigerator inside the center that held a variety of canned, bottled, and packaged drinks, as well as different brands of cigarettes - which was being sold.

They said that they had also confiscated some money inside a drawer which they suspect to be gains from the illegal business transactions.

Police said the taxi center had been illegally selling the drinks and cigarettes after displaying a “permission for business” paper – property of the next door shop “Mihai”.
