Commissioner General of Taxation at the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), Yazeed Mohamed has said that next year is MIRA’s digital year and they would achieve technological advances in the next year.
In a speech yesterday commemorating MIRA’s fifth anniversary, the Commissioner General of Taxation, Yazeed said that regional offices and collection centers of MIRA would be established in more islands in the next year. And with that the Maldives Tax Academy would also be established offering tax related courses within the standards of the Qualification Authority.
“Special attention is to be given to identify the loopholes in the tax law and resolve those loopholes and identify things that can be made flexible to taxpayers and give all the leeway possible.” The Commissioner General said.
Looking back at the past five years, Commissioner General Yazeed said that what he find most fulfilling is that the public has accepted that MIRA is an institute that works with integrity and equality without being biased.
MIRA has decided to hold a “Tax Week” up to the 8 August. MIRA has decided to hold an Open Day to experience the workings of MIRA, a special program targeted to the schools, a Children’s Evening and blood drive under this program.
