Praying area outside Islamic Centre to be expanded

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that work will begin today to expand the praying area outside the Islamic Centre mosque in Male’.

Dr Muizzu tweeted this morning: “A project will begin today in cooperation with Islamic Affairs Ministry, to expand the praying area outside Islamic Centre mosque.”

Due to severe overcrowding, people are not only forced to pray outside the Islamic Centre mosque, but also at Republic Square during mass congregations such as Friday prayer and Eid prayer.

Dr Muizzu said that details of the project will be shared with the media soon.
