STO petrol sheds extend service time by one hour

The petrol sheds STO’s Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) have extended their service hours by one hour.

Speaking at a press conference at the STO head office, the Managing Director of the Company, Ahmed Shaheer said that the service hours of their petrol sheds have been extended by an hour since the fuel queues have grown due to “panic” among the people.

“We are now closing at 11. But starting tonight one more hour, petrol sheds of FSM would be open for one more hour. After the “six roadha” (six days after Ramadan) we are to close at 10, but up to 11, one more hour they would be open until this situation settles.” Shaheer said.

Managing Director of STO, Shaheer also said that they have decided to stop selling fuel to those who comes with bottles and containers but fuel will be sold without limit for motorcycles and cars.

Director Shaheer said that there is enough petrol and diesel needed for the country in stock and there has been no trouble I the distribution.

Responding to a question from Sun Media about independent owners closing down their gas stations, Shaheer said that STO has talked to those owners and they have reopened.

While rumors of scarceness for petrol are spreading, there are a lot of people at in queue near the petrol sheds to buy fuel.
