A man who went into the Huravee Building, threatens and robbed Immigration staff has been arrested by the Police.
Information Officer of Immigration, Hassan Khaleel told Sun Media today that a robber went up to the third floor of Huravee Building, stole a phone on a table and threatened a staff at the Immigration with a “sharp object” and assaulted him.
“He threatened to kill and then attacked him. His whole shirt was torn up, but he didn’t sustain any major injuries.” Information Officer Khaleel said.
After the assault, the thief ran away with the phone and was stopped on Alikilegefaanu Magu near the Presidential Palace with the help of the people on the road.
Police have taken him into custody now.
Sources say that the man arrested for the theft and assault today has a record of such crimes.
