Dr Jameel appoints Suood to present defence in parliament

Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has informed the parliament that his defence for the no-confidence motion will be presented by lawyer Husnu Al Suood.

Sources have told Sun Online that Dr Jameel informed the parliament of Suood’s appointment on Thursday, 16 July.

Dr Jameel has been notified to present his defence to the parliament at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 21 July.

MPs of ruling party, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) have said that Dr Jameel would be removed and Minister of Tourism Ahmed Adeeb would be installed as Vice President before 26 July.

Recently, President Abdulla Yameen met with MPs of government coalition, PPM and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), to explain the reasons behind his loss of confidence in Dr Jameel.
