Transport Authority has announced that vehicles will not be allowed on the roads in Malé from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Eid.

According to the calendar, Eid will be celebrated tomorrow, Friday, 16 July 2015. This will however not be confirmed until the sighting of the moon this evening.

A special permit has been issued to vehicles used by security forces, ambulances, taxis and pick-up trucks carrying luggage, vehicles used by people with special needs, and buses authorised by City Council.

All vehicles are required to display the permit while on the road during the specified hours.

Use of unauthorised vehicles during this time will carry a fine of MVR 750.
