The special function celebrating 50 years of Maldivian independence has been decided to be held at Usfasgandu.

Media Coordinator of the Home Ministry, Thazmeel Abdul-Samad told Sun Media today that the Housing Ministry is working to prepare Usfasgandu for the ceremony at a fast pace.

“The special ceremony hosted by the President on Independence Day this year is at Usfasgandu this time. As you know it has been previously been held at Dharubaaruge. Invited foreign dignitaries would also be attending this ceremony.” Thazmeel said.

While Malé City is being cleaned and the venue is being prepared to celebrate 50 years of independence, last year the annual ceremony was not held claiming to reduce costs.
