Amendments to the law has turned Kulliyah a university

Ratification of the bill of hastening the establishment of an Islamic University by the President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom, Kulliyathul Dhiraasathul Islamiyya has turned into a university.

When the bill of Islamic University was passed by the Parliament, the bill said that Kulliyah would become a university three months from ratification.

According to the amendment to the Islamic University law made last Monday, Kulliyah would become a university on the day the President ratifies the bill.

The amendment by the Parliament would mean that the council at Kulliyathul Dhiraasathul Islamiyya would become the council of the Islamic University from the moment of ratification.

The council would only exist until the President assigns a Chancellor and a Vice Chancellor to the university.
