Tests have begun to check the quality of modern medicines being imported to the Maldives.
Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) said that they have started the tests to confirm the quality of the medicines and monitor it’s side effects.
“In the first phase, to confirm the safety and quality, the most commonly used medicines on the essential medicine list would be tested.” MFDA said.
The MFDA said that aside from the most commonly used medicines, others suspected of low quality would also be tested. The MFDA has decided to take samples from the import ports, pharmacies, storages and health centers for testing.
