Applications opened for a second time, for specialty training for doctors

The government has invited applications for a second time for specialty training for doctors.

Not many applications were received in the first round, when courses were announced in seven fields.

Three courses have been announced in the second round, for two anaesthesiologists and one general practitioner.

Department of Higher Education said in the announcement made last month, that applicants must hold MBBS and be registered at the Maldives Medical Council.

Priority will be given to individuals working in government hospitals or health centres in islands excluding Malé, the department said.

The courses carry a bond of five years, during which time the specialty doctors would have to work in hospitals in islands excluding Malé.

The deadline for application is 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
