Government institutes have started working together to control the Dengue Fever outbreak spreading through mosquitoes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the high level institutes meeting held at the Health Ministry, Health Minister, Iruthisham Adam said that mosquito fogging has started today.
“Malé and other Atolls were fogged before Ramadan. And mosquitoes were controlled. And now forced into a second round, starting today, fogging has begun in effected atolls.” Minister said.
She said that fogging is done with the help of the Housing Ministry and the Environment Ministry.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Home Affairs, Umar Naseer said that public awareness is important to control mosquitoes and stop mosquito breeding and said that there are a lot of places where mosquitoes breed in Malé and the atolls. Home Minister said that complete support from the government at the highest level would be given to control the Dengue Fever.
“…with God’s will, complete support at the highest level of government would be given in addressing this.” Home Minister Umar Naseer said.
Since the Dengue Fever outbreak this time in the Maldives, 354 people have reported with the sickness and two have died.
