MTCC introduces double-deck ferry, two new buses

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has introduced a double-deck ferry for the Malé-Hulhumalé route, and two buses for the Hulhumalé-Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) route.

The services were launched by Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed.

Speaking at the ceremony, Saeed praised MTCC for its quality services and continuous efforts towards improvement.

“The new buses will allow customers to travel to the airport with luggage. This is modernisation, and shows companies’ willingness to introduce services based on customer needs,” he said.

CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq said that the new ferry has better ventilation, higher speed, and a capacity of 203 passengers.

The ferry will take passengers and vehicles, and a trip between Malé and Hulhumalé takes 15 minutes.

Referring to the buses, Abdul Razzaq said that they will take passengers and luggage and will be operated hourly between Hulhumalé and the airport.

Each bus has a capacity of 45 passengers.

Chairman Mohamed Salim said that MTCC’s achievements in the field of transport cannot be matched by any other local company.
