The hearing scheduled for today in High Court, of the appeal case regarding the prison sentence against former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim, has been cancelled.
Nazim was convicted of possession of weapons and sentenced to 11 years in prison on 27 March 2015.
The reason for the cancellation is unclear. The hearing was scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court announced its decision to assign two out of the five judges presiding over Nazim’s case, Judge Abbas Shareef and Judge Shuaib Hussain Zakariyya, to the southern branch of the High Court.
The three remaining judges are Judge Abdul Ghanee Mohamed, Judge Abdulla Hameed, and Judge Abdul Raoof.
Two hearings have been held this week for Nazim’s appeal case.
