Hithadhoo assault victim dies

The man who was assaulted in Hithadhoo, Addu City, on Monday night, has died while receiving treatment in the ICU in Hithadhoo Hospital.

The victim is Hussain Shiyar, 19.

Hithadhoo Hospital spokesperson said that Hussain Shiyar had several stab wounds on his body and had suffered a serious head injury in the assault, and died as a result of those injuries at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses say he was attacked while at home by a group of masked men.

Four murders have taken place so far this year in Maldives. They are two-year-old Mohamed Ibthihaal in January, Jailam Ahmed Shakir in February, and Ali Ziyadam and Shaheen in March.
