HRCM membership nominations sent to committee for review

The names of the three people nominated by President Abdulla Yameen as Members of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM), have been sent to the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions for review.

The three nominees are former MP Shifag Mufeed, Aishath Afreen Mohamed, and Aminath Eenas.

A total of 33 people applied for the post of HRCM member.

Tenures as HRCM members will expire on 17 August, for HRCM President Mariyam Azra, Ahmed Tholal, and Jeehan Mohamed.
